Ananda’s entry to the 2016 edition of the Inter School Shakespeare Drama Competition followed the fall of the Duke of Gloucestor, uncle to the King, amidst the rise of his newly wed Queen, Margaret of Anjou.
Featuring 27 students – the largest cast ever entered by Ananda into this competition – the play was the swansong of two of Ananda’s most experienced actors, Chirantha Kolonne and Ravin Hettiarachchi.
Performed in period style with sumptuous costumes, music, and against the backdrop of fluttering banners and pennants reflecting the late medieval period, the play was well received by the audience but did not progress into the finals of the competition.
