S A Wijayatilake Memorial Inter House Drama Competition

Inaugurated in 2014, the Inter House Drama Competition (IHDC) is one of the main avenues through which new talent is identified. It also exposes hundreds of students to the joys of theatre. It is open to students from Year 6 and up.

Named in memory of one of Ananda’s great past Principals and renowned English scholar Mr. S. A. Wijayatilake, the IHDC is held at the Kularatne Hall in front of students from the middle school, most of whom are exposed to English theatre for the first time. The plays on show are originals written and directed by AnandaDrama’s senior students and young alumni, and the competition is judged by reputed theatre personalities.
